It's one of the first things people ask when they're losing lambs or poultry: what's this going to cost? The honest answer for us is nothing. But it's worth understanding how fox control usually works, because that explains why a free service isn't too good to be true.
Why fox control can get expensive
Paid fox control is generally charged by the visit or by the job, and fox problems rarely resolve in a single visit. Foxes work to a routine, but not one that runs to a timetable: a fox that hits a run every few nights may not show on the night someone's waiting for it. Getting the right fox can take several evenings of watching, calling, and checking routes with thermal, and every one of those evenings costs time.
Why ours is free
Fox control here works on the same basis as our deer management: there's no callout fee and no invoice at the end. It sits alongside the deer side of the business rather than paying for itself, which is explained in why free deer management makes sense. It also means there's no incentive to string a job out or to do more than the situation calls for. The aim is to stop the losses, not to clear every fox from the area.
What we need from you instead
Permission to be on the land, a clear picture of what's being lost and where, and a bit of help with the basics. Control works best alongside secure housing and well-maintained electric netting, covered in fox deterrents: what actually works, because fixing the weak point stops the next fox finding it.
When we can and can't help
Control is carried out by rifle, so it has to be on rural land where a safe shot is possible: farms, smallholdings, estates, shoots, and conservation land. Back gardens and built-up areas usually aren't suitable. If control isn't the right answer for your situation, you'll be told so straight, along with what's more likely to help.
If you're losing stock to foxes anywhere across Yorkshire and the North, see our fox control service or just get in touch. There's no obligation, just a conversation.
