Fox Control

Fox Control in East Yorkshire

Free fox control for farms, shoots, and smallholdings across East Yorkshire, from the Wolds around Driffield and Pocklington down to the flatter land toward Howden, Goole, and the Humber. Control is targeted, carried out by rifle with thermal and night vision, and only goes ahead once the evidence points to a fox.

Partridge and pheasant shoots on the Wolds

The Wolds carry a lot of partridge and pheasant shooting, and summer release pens are where a single fox can do the most damage in the shortest time. Control is focused on the ground around the pens and the shelterbelts and hedgerows foxes use to reach them, and fitted around your keeper's routine so it supports the shoot rather than getting in its way.

Outdoor pigs, poultry, and lambing flocks

Outdoor pig units, free-range poultry, smallholdings, and lambing flocks all share the same open, lightly wooded farmland here. With so little cover, foxes tend to lie up in the few shelterbelts and spinneys available and use the same routes night after night, which makes them easier to pattern with thermal and to intercept by stalking or calling.

Waders along the Humber

The Humber estuary and the farmland behind it are important ground for waders, and stewardship land along this stretch often has ground-nesting birds to protect in spring. Fox control on conservation land is a narrower job than on a poultry farm: reducing pressure through the nesting season, not removing every fox.

How it works

Free, targeted, and done safely

Confirming it's a fox

Mink, badgers, dogs, and scavenging after a death from other causes can all look like a fox. The evidence is checked first, and if it isn't a fox, you'll be told so.

Thermal, night vision, and the rifle

Foxes are controlled by rifle, by a certificate-holding professional, using thermal and night vision to identify each animal and check what's beyond it. Depending on the ground, that means stalking, calling, or a bait station.

Timed to when losses happen

Lambing, release pens, and the nesting season each have their own window. Our fox calendar shows what foxes are doing month by month.

No charge, ever

There's no callout fee and nothing to pay at the end. The aim is to stop the losses, not to clear every fox from the area. See the full fox control service.
